Bank of India was established in 1906 by a group of eminent businessmen from Mumbai. BOI is a Public sector bank owned by the Government of India and one of the oldest and major commercial banks of India which was commercialized in 1969 along with other 13 banks of India by the enactment of Nationalization bill for banks passed by the parliament of India. Bank of India has been the first among the nationalised banks to establish a fully computerised branch and ATM facility at the Mahalaxmi Branch at Mumbai way back in 1989.
