With the benign blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the magnificent edifice of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, was established in 1948. The foundations of the college date back to the 1920's, when with the visionary dream of Nihang Shamsher Singh Ji, a 'Gurumukhi Pathhshala' was kick started here which was once considered to be a waste stretch of land. This impetus over the years evolved into the present day degree college, a 'Wonder in Rural Hinterland'. The purpose behind its establishment has always been to cater to the higher educational needs of the rural population with the motto of 'Simple Living & High Thinking'. Presently, this great institution caters to more than 3000 students, multi-disciplinary courses, at both graduated and post-graduate level. The sprawling campus spread over 30 acres of land includes Nihang Shamsher Singh Hall, Dhillon open Air theatre, Nihang Shamsher Singh Stadium , Sardar Sardara Singh Sports Complex, Six-a-side Hockey Astro-turf, State-of-the-art indoor Shooting Range, indoor multipurpose gymnasium, faculty houses, Guru Hargobind boys' hostel, Mata Ganga girls' hostel, an ultra-modern Seminar Hall, student center, a well-stacked Library, up-to-date Laboratories, a beautiful Administrative Block, and high-tech education dissipation mediums. Initially, only conventional subjects of science and arts streams were offered, but with the passage of time, advanced subjects along with vocational training were also introduced.
