About Us
The parliament of India is absolute legislative body in India that functions through its two houses Lok Sabha (The Lower house) and Rajya Sabha (The Upper house). Parliament is the apex body that posses the supreme power to deal with all kinds of political matters at the national level and also at the state level. The Lok Sabha also called house of people is the lower house of the parliament and its members are elected by direct general election on the basis of adult suffrage. According to the provisions of the constitution of India, Lok Sabha can have a maximum of 552 members including members from the union territories but the parliament has fixed to 545 via a resolution passed by it. Present Lok Sabha is the 15th Lok Sabha. It has a tenure of 5 years which is extendable upto one year by a proclamation of emergency.
