National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC) is an electric utilities company of India. NHPC was established in 1975 with an initial authorized capital of Rs. 2 billion. NHPC is a Mini Ratna Enterprise of the Government of India. It is one of the top ten companies of India in terms of investment. The main objective of incorporating NHPC was to plan, promote and organize integrated and efficient development of hydroelectric power. Consequently, NHPC expanded its objects and included other sources of energy as well like geothermal energy, tidal energy, wind energy etc.
