About Us
The Indian Council of Medical Research combined forces with Family and Healthcare Commission and Health Department to restructure the National Malaria Centre, which was established in 1977, into the now known National Institute of Malaria Research. NIMR is now the only centre that has the central objective of malarial research and preventive measures development. In 2005, NIMR was recognized as India's Foremost Malaria Research Centre and is currently in talks of teaming up Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the quest to eradicate malarial infections from the planet.
