About Us
National Physical Laboratory was initiated with the help of CSIR and the Government of India to create and maintain a centralized network of physical units and commodities that serve as a national standard for measurements, weights and calculation. These standards were the basis for every level of research that is done the country. The institute began its operatinal research in 1900 and is said to be a result of one of CSIR initial research attempts. The institute has a lustrous campus and reports directly to CSIR authorities which gets delegated to other research facilities through multiple channels.
