In 2006, Canara Bank sponsored the construction and administrative services of rural banks that would serve the needs of people living in highly remote areas of various states in the country. Shreyas Gramin Bank was formed with the vision of providing banking facilities, load capabilities, money transfer and deposition services etc. to the people who didn't have access due to lack of infrastructure. More than 200 Gramin Banks are now functional across India with over 900 people working fulltime catering to banking needs of millions of people.
