In the year 1941, The Government of India teamed up with brilliant minds of the Department of Atomic Energy and established the now synonymous name in the field of Cancer Research and A.L.L. Treatment known as Tata Memorial Hospital. TMC specializes in Cancer Research and Treatment and also serves as a central location for the treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) and is located in Parel, Mumbai. In 1957, TMC was absorbed by the Ministry of Health Affairs in an attempt to centralize the research and hospitality services that Tata Memorial Centre has to offer.
