The university of Jammu is situated on the foothills of Trikuta on the bank of river Tawi at an altitude of 315 metres above see level. The Campus of the university is truly a heaven on earth surrounded by the beauty of nature all around. The city of Jammu also referred to as the city of temples is a major tourist place and a sacred Hindu shrine, that attracts tourists from all corners of the country. The Jammu University was formed in 1969 as a result of the bifurcation of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir through an act of the state legislature. Jammu university also affiliates and recognizes various colleges in the Jammu region.
