About Us
The Public Petition dated 11-11-1839 initiated the institution of Madras University. it had been in Gregorian calendar month 1840 with Mr.George Norton as its President, that the University Board was accepted. In 1854 when a lapse of fourteen years, the govt. of India|Bharat|Asian country|Asian nation}|Bharat|Asian country|Asian nation} developed a scientific academic policy for India associated as a sequel to the present on fifth Gregorian calendar month 1857 by an Act of legislative council of India, the University was established. The University was organized within the model of London University.
