Tata STRIVE is our Knowledge Partner for this initiative.
GuruSchool aims to develop quality Trainers who are trained not just on specific Qualification Packs but will be qualified to train on adjacent Qualification Packs as well, thus strengthening their deployment across the ecosystem. The approach to training at GuruSchool is to develop holistic trainers with strong platform and domain capabilities, who can thrive in varied situations and enhance the environment where ever they are located.
WHY WORK FOR US
The Training of Trainer Ecosystem. Over 12,000 training centers are affiliated to NSDC/SSC imparting skill development training to over 6 Million unemployed youth every year. Skill India Mission’s target is to train more than 50 Million youth every year for the next 7 years. Each trainer can train 250 youth every year. Thus, more than 2 Lac trainers would be required to achieve this ambitious target across all parts of the country. However
There is a huge shortage in the number of trainers available. 90% of the training providers lack organized trainer recruitment and trainer training process.
Most of the trainers do not have prior training experience.
Many Trainers have little shop floor expertise, and at times lower than prescribed by Sector skill councils. There is little training available to bridge the gap.
Very few good quality trainers are available in non-urban areas which will account for more than 80% of the requirement.
The salaries of trainers are non-standardized and extremely varied across locations, training providers (Average salary – INR 12,000 per month)
High Trainer attrition across organizations due to various reasons including training up to 12 hours in a day to make up for the shortfall in trainer availability.
All of this leads to extremely poor quality of Training delivery at the ground level, negatively impacting the quality of skilling the employability/livelihood preparedness of youth.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOUTH
Addressing the problem of poor quality of training delivered at skill development institutes, and equipping the trainers with skills to understand content and deliver training as per norms established by their respective organization. This will be done through:
Setting up 4 GuruSchool (one in each zone – North, South, East, West) producing high quality trainers for skill development of unemployed youth.
350 Trainers to graduate from each GuruSchool every year.
Approximately 2800 Trainers to be developed and placed over a period of two years.
